Bio / Bibliography:

Born 14 May 1925, Feilding; educated at schools in Feilding and Dannevirke and at Victoria University College and Oxford University. Graduated M.A. in History with first class honours from the former and D.Phil. in History from the latter. Taught History at University of Canterbury, Victoria University of Wellington and Massey University. Appointed General Editor of The Dictionary of New Zealand Biography in 1983; retired in 1990 and worked on Waitangi Tribunal issues and claims during the 1990s.

four volumes of verse:

Fire without phoenix (1957), Out of season (1980), Poor Richard (1982), Bodily presence (with Anne Munz, 1993).
